Unrequited
Today I wrapped you up
And lay you to rest,
In a box.
I sealed you in and shelved you very well.
Yet,the mystery of our death
Lingers in my head.
Perhaps,I dreamed us in your bed?
I saw the enemy in your mind,
I felt the wall you hid behind
I sensed the fear beneath the anger,
And dispelled the signs of danger.
As our rocky road
I tried to ride
I see you saw,
I showed
Not love,but lack of pride.
Perhaps tomorrow I'll regain,
A strength of spirit,
Not shattered by disdain
But,for today
I wrapped my heart and lay it to rest.
In a box.
I sealed it in and shelved it very well.
