Down there
Down there
I saw her again last night
Last night when I had escaped
Down there
Tears would burn my eyes
As I had wondered
What she might have been like
I had never known her name
Had never seen her likeness anywhere except
In my head
Yet I will always carry this dull ache
This dead weight
And no one to share my grief with
Down there.
I was deep...deep in the void under the sea
Drifting in the subzero mists...down there...
In the dreamless depths
We met there...down there...in the deeps
My god ...it was cold...so cold and so dark
And we almost touched...I tasted her breath...
We almost kissed...down there...
Down there in the abysmal deeps...
And she waits for me still
Down there
Where neither time is measured in years
Down there...in the infinite night and silence
Unheard by human ears
A silent secret of unfathomed violence
And unremembered fears
"You have been my only friend in this existence we
Call 'life'--the only soul to sense and seek through the virus I
Call 'living'---we shall meet again... perhaps in unremembered dreams
We will meet again
Down there...
